Congregational Kabbalat Shabbat with WordSwap, Nov. 20, 8:15 pm

Please join us for a special Friday evening service with some amazing members of StandWithUs Canada’s WordSwap team. Please read their bios.

WORDSWAP BIOS FINAL WordSwap trains Israelis from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds, including Bedouins, Druze, Muslims, to engage North American students in conversations beyond the conflict. Their mission is to educate and support Israel, to enable dialogue with people so that they can get to know Israel for what it really is – a complex, diverse and beautiful country.

Past visits have had astounding results on campuses. The members of the WordSwap team are accessible, friendly, and arrive on campuses with free coffee and fortune cookies with facts about Israel to distribute, and they engage students in conversations – in Arabic, Hebrew, and English.

Wordswap introduces students to the side of Israel they don’t have the opportunity to meet, and may never have known to exist. The tapestry that is Israeli culture is there for them, in person, and they create an apolitical and safe space for discussing Israel beyond propaganda and rhetoric.
